About

Founded in the spring of 2009, the Musica Batavia trio has played concerts in the Netherlands, Germany and the United States, to great praise; “Kammermusik vom feinsten,” lauded the Osnabrücker Zeitung in 2012. Since 2011 Musica Batavia has also hosted an annual summer workshop in Germany for Baroque string, recorder and harpsichord players. Bert Honig, Mimi Mitchell and Christina Edelen all regularly perform with a range of prominent ensembles, including The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Anima Eterna, Currende, The Locke Consort, Brisk, de Amsterdamce Bachsolisten and the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra.

The ensemble’s repertoire consists of Baroque triosonatas and instrumental music, and often plays themed programmes, such as Music in the Netherlands around 1700 and work by the three German masters, Händel, Telemann and Bach.
